A base jack nut is a type of blind threaded insert used for securing attachments to thin or soft materials, or in situations where access to the back side is limited. It works by collapsing and creating a gripping action on the inside of the mounting surface when installed. In scaffolding, they are used as part of a base jack to provide adjustable and level support for the scaffolding structure.
